²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Magazine Making a Mayr Match
In December, the George H. Mayr Foundation awarded ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ a $50,000 challenge grant. By raising an additional $50,000 to match this amount, the college can create a $100,000 fund to endow a permanent George H. Mayr Scholarship Fund. Each year, this fund will help pay tuition for a George H. Mayr scholar.
The Mayr Foundation has provided scholarship assistance to ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ for more than 20 years. After achieving financial success despite his inability to pay for college as a young man, George Mayr established his foundation to help others get the education he never had.
Eight out of 10 ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ students receive financial aid. Scholarship programs on campus favor students with the best academic records as well as financial need. This year, ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ budgeted about $7 million for financial aid.
